Private Lessons

Private lessons are individually tailored to meet the specific needs and interests of each student. Whether you have a particular performance aspiration, or you need more cofidence in general, private lessons are designed for your short and long term goals, and unique learning journey.
Frances offers student preparation for Royal Conservatory Practical & Theory Examinations, The Calgary Performing Arts Festival (formerly Kiwanis), the Presentation MRU Drama Festival, and ARMTA events and recitals. Speakers are guided through ‘age and skill-level’ appropriate selection of verse speaking, prose reciting, scene work, Shakespeare, storytelling, extemporaneous speeches, and improvisation for a full understanding of the spoken arts.
Students are also trained in posture, movement, voice & body, public speaking, cold reads, TelePrompter work, interview and auditioning skills, microphone use, and (when requested) dialects or accent reduction.
Having been an early reading interventionist for the literacy program at The Calgary Arts Academy, Frances can also assist children with reading struggles. She has training in Reading with TLC and uses the Fountas & Pinnell Levelled Literacy Intervention System. She has also taken “Teaching Students with ADHD” with registered psychologist Dr. Ann Price, Director of Clinical Services at the CanLearn Society. As well as '“Strategies to Support Students with Challenging Behaviours” with Jody Neumann Koop of StudySpot Calgary.

In-Person Lessons
Covid Precautions
Health and Screening You will only have an in-person lesson if you and I reply NO that day to all questions on the Alberta Health Covid self assessment questionnaire. You will not be charged for missed lessons due to illness or precautionary isolation.
Hand Hygiene and Respiratory Etiquette I will provide you with 60%+ Alcohol hand sanitizer that we both will use before and after your lesson. Please cough or sneeze into your elbow even if you are wearing a mask.
Preparing My Studio During your in-person lesson my studio window will be open, and I will run my GermGuardian Air Purifier (HEPA filter, UV-C, high CADR).
Waiver I do have liability insurance through my ARMTA membership, however no insurer is willing to cover the risk of Covid-19, no matter the profession or the circumstances. Therefore, I require you to sign a waiver for in-person lessons.
